The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 粉丝向作品，评分这么低是因为没有达到观众的预期，打戏很少，剧情解说偏多，该燃的地方燃不起来，这些或许是评分低的主要原因，可是要知道，终章是以悲为主，不论是玛修还是医生，我认为达到了以悲为主的目的，所以值得五星。另外一些闪闪厨不理解为什么王只是在摸鱼，最后总结了一下就退场了因为如果闪闪出手 在医生以后一个乖离剑砸下去就可以直接结束了乖离剑太bug
男主是个歌手，样子不起眼，也没什么传唱的歌曲。

故事的内核应该是来自于黑天鹅，后面又堪称82年的金智英的暗黑版。比较再现了 高丽国的女性职场困境，压力山大啊
还不错啊 有被感动到耶 周兴哲很帅好吗！而且没想到演技出乎意料地很自然 “可是我不喜欢你”这句话虽然很伤人 但一定要讲清楚 中间两段唱歌太长了甚至可以删掉
粉丝向剧场版，基本可以完整的表达出终章的剧情，但略显平淡，并且没有期待的全员宝具轰炸，致命缺点是各英灵出场都是哑巴，及格分6分加1分粉丝分一共7分

一开始我以为走向是《恐怖直播》，结果，嗯…
什么？！学长竟然是周兴哲？！// 什么台湾青春伤痛文学，完全多余的自作多情戏和错过矛盾闹别扭。几天吃饭的时间加上二倍速终于看完了，唯一的亮点就是饭团手帐。演员演的都很不自然，剧本也不自然，冲着台湾青春片看的，但很失望。
很好看的片子。拍的悬疑又悲伤。前期铺垫很多，结尾最后让人惊艳。值得二刷

总体感觉三颗星。揭露了韩国女性职场与生活的压力，社会的残忍，世俗的偏见……与母爱的矛盾。同时揭露了心理精神科医生职业道德的重要性，社会写实的一部电影。
刚开始还以为女主母亲为了女主的职业生涯杀了那对母女，结果又是人格分裂的梗啊。
好久没有看到这种片了，年轻的时候我们会为了喜欢的人而伤心，可是好像长大以后，我们逐渐变得麻木，没有情绪了。有句话说的很对，大家都口是心非，这个世界上的人都是这样。
