The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 个人感觉隐喻明显到溢出屏幕？强大又善良的红色海兽，被宣扬成和人类水火不容的最大反派，鼓动国民牺牲生命也要除掉这头怪兽……主角小女孩揭露了君主统治的谎言并告诉大家真相：只要我们放下武器就可以结束这世代仇恨，大家完全可以和这只“红色巨兽”和平相处！哎妈这不能更明显了吧？！
配音阵容很厉害，动画做的不错，但剧情有点简单，感觉给小朋友看看还不错~~3.5
无法成为大人的原因是（=not able to move on）。很喜欢剧里一句话，那尚未成佛的词语，等待着你的书写。男主一辈子都挂着这个人是否普通的口头禅，这个的来源就是他第一任女友。而这个女友也变成了他一直无法放下往前走的根源。此时此刻，人生是否普通已不再重要，更重要的是在遇到困境时坚信总会有阳光再次照入。很喜欢这个片子倒叙并环节相扣的表现手法，对男主实惨的处境同情，但有时人生又怎么会是能主观控制的呢。
整体紧凑好看，画面明快活泼，不过最后小女主嘴炮感悟众人，打倒帝后，就有点像儿童闹剧啦
年轻时只能去没有窗户的钟点房，成为大人后，找个女优都可以开一间视野开阔正对东京塔的高级房了。
究极缝合怪，无牙仔，环太平洋，漂流派。海战有刺客信条黑旗内味儿了。屠夫的配音显老，很难想象这声音是个黄毛小青年，可能是先入为主了吧哈哈。最后附上一个观察：多数影视作品里，把异世界的宠物/萌物，都会对应到狗上，这是偷懒还是想象力匮乏？
主角海兽除了颜色，造型上太软糯了，果真还是给小娃看的啊
影片应该在IMAX屏幕上观看，非常爽，影片的动作场面还是非常刺激的！毕竟海怪的存在让IMAX革新加了不少分，另外 这部电影看到一大半让我想起来《阿凡达 水之道》特别的绝美海底！影院观影应该是最佳的，满分100分，可以给到85分，但是，5星，我给4星，非常适合有童心的人看！影片中的英语说的极其标准，锻炼听力也是不错的
真就鸣人转世全靠嘴遁呗。
故事挺老套的，而且怪兽把他们带到新小岛的时候还期待能看到更多种类的怪兽，结果总共也就讲了3种怪兽和1个宠物。
宫泽贤治的银河，《重庆森林》里的加州，有些理想和目的地似乎从未出发。
陪小朋友，最后大人看得津津有味。动画片么，放弃逻辑，立意正确能量满满就好，再画得精彩：城堡足够高大上，好动物萌萌哒到用眼神撸够……开心啊！
萌萌的海兽，老主角和老船长的传承与理念对抗，小女孩发现了是皇宫制造矛盾挑起人类与海兽的斗争，振臂一呼应者云集。

结尾有些仓促，羁绊来的突然，但是画面真的好漂亮啊！
四颗星给小红，女孩，小蓝（开窗那段萌到了），女大副。只有女孩关心小红身上被刺伤留下的武器，为它去除。TA们在海中穿过水母群的那段。撒谎和挑起战争的皇室，虚假的历史，残忍杀害地球上其他生物和猎巫的人类，这不是很真实吗。这种童话至少比长发公主等和野男人私奔的童话好很多
普通就很好啊。永远无法忘记的初恋，爱自己却又克制着的同性朋友，无聊的工作，阴郁的职场，一团糟的感情生活。普通的一切构成了无趣又漫长的人生。怕自己到中年也会说一句我不想成为这样的大人。剪辑风格太实验短片了，某种程度上扣分？
情节一般，制作精良。这故事真的…要是把那个女巫交代清楚，然后多一番怎么证明和解释这些历史书籍的戏码，这基本就上8分了。
海怪和画面都美，也就不那么无趣。这种反战、反殖民、反帝国的美妙鸡汤总让人意难平，早一百年干嘛去了，祖上抢了无数金山，后人可以坐下来人模狗样儿地反思，可是如果没有真正解决问题的意愿（搁文艺作品里也就是脑洞一下愿景，都不用可行性），就是光喊几嗓子人道光辉，那实质不等于用文化技艺再收割一次么。
